Boccia

Welcome to the CP Sport Boccia Website

We hope you will find the site helpful, informative and interesting and have tried to make it more "user-friendly" than our previous site. It's aimed at Newcomers to the game of Boccia with basic information, background and ideas about the game whilstDavid Smith - 2005 CP Sport National Boccia Champion offering our own members a more detailed summary of developments, news and results from CP Sport competitions.

CP Sport is a member of CP-ISRA (Cerebral Palsy International Sports & Recreation Association), which governs the world game and determines the rules and regulations of this worldwide sport. For full details of rules and classification criteria why not visit www.cpisra.org?

CP Sport has "governance" of the game in England & Wales and organises five regional competitions, which lead to qualification for the National Championships. From here, the elite players can progress to the England & Wales National Squad, the GB Championships and ultimately to representing Great Britain at European, World and Paralympic competitions.

However, for the overwhelming majority Boccia remains a game to be played for enjoyment, social and health benefits . . . with a dose of competitive edge for those seeking it!! It's a target game, which demands skill and subtlety as opposed to strength or speed and is played in this country by young, old, men, women, those with and those without disability.

It is realistically .. "A Sport for All"

Boccia Skills Award Scheme

The Boccia Skills Award has been developed to allow anyone the opportunity to develop skills related to the game of Boccia. The introductory award scheme has been specifically based upon participation and skills development, to encourage individuals and groups to enjoy the challenge and fun side of Boccia. Specific Skill Tasks form the basis of assessment for each of the three levels, which can be introduced and practiced as either specific Boccia award courses or over an indefinite period of time as individuals develop at their own rate.

The natural progression for individuals completing the introductory awards is to enter the high award scheme: However the most important objective is to encourage people to enjoy playing Boccia.

Skills Award Pack available from CP Sport.
