CP Sport Ambassador Tully Kearney set 3 new world record times, while on route to winning 3 gold medals for Great Britain at the World Para Swimming Championships.  

The 25-year-old smashed her previous best time by more than a second in the Women’s 100m Freestyle S5 final with a stunning swim.

After also setting a new record time in the 50m event, Kearney had an opportunity to wrap up a superb treble of titles.

With the race seemingly in safe keeping at halfway, Kearney stretched away from her rivals in style and sealed a third gold medal in a time of 1:13.34, over a second quicker than her winning time at the rearranged 2020 Tokyo Paralympics.

Following her brilliant performances, Kearney expressed her delight in an interview with Swim England:

“It’s completely unreal, I don’t think anyone was expecting that so I’m kind of speechless but extremely happy.”

“Spending some time in Loughborough temporarily five weeks before worlds was a tough decision but it’s made a massive difference and a happy swimmer is always going to swim fast so it gives me a lot to think about going forward.”

The British swimmer has rightfully earned a place on the New Years Honours List for 2022 for which she will receive an MBE.
