March 2025

On Tuesday March 18th 2025 our government published the green paper Pathways to Work: Reforming Benefits and Support to get Britain Working. This paper includes proposed changes to Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Employment Support Allowance (ESA). The consultation will run until June 30th 2025, and this green paper is only the first step toward changing disability benefits.

At CP Sport we understand that this may be a worrying time for many people with a disability or long-term health condition. Sometimes, knowing who to turn to and where to get advice can be hard.

Our friends at Scope offer expert practical information and emotional support whenever needed. Scope has online communities, telephone helplines, and online advice and support. We have included some helpful links below:

CP Sport are writing to the government in collaboration with the sports sector and other disability sports organisations, outlining our concerns about the potential impact of the proposed changes on disabled people and their ability to take part in sport or be physically active.
