Everyone at Cerebral Palsy Sport would like to send a huge thank you to Barry Brough for raising money from 2008-2024 💚
Barry said: “I started volunteering for CP Sport in 2008 when I was applying to become a GamesMaker at the 2012 Olympics. I visited the Olympic website and they listed charities that you could get involved with prior to the start of the games and I thought that CP Sport would be an appropriate charity, especially with it’s links to the Para Olympics, to be part of.
I started off placing CP collection boxes in local shops in my village of Elmswell in Suffolk and gradually built up a portfolio of around 50 outlets spreading to the towns of Stowmarket and Bury St.Edmunds. The shops ranged from local grocery stores to Post Offices, butchers, bakers, health centres, pubs and takeaways.
I formulated all of the collections onto an XL spreadsheet, mainly for my own overview of how collections were building up and over the past 15 years have nearly collected £9000, which hopefully has helped CP Sport in some small way to achieve their aims.
I have enjoyed visiting the sites over the years and meeting the owners and staff of the various outlets and building up a working relationship with them.
As a bonus for my efforts, I was lucky enough to be supplied with some tickets for the 2012 Para Olympics which were enjoyed by me and my family at the athletics, cycling and swimming events.”
