Cerebral Palsy Sport is pleased to announce we are looking for 2 Non-Executive Directors (NED) in Finance and Governance 

CP Sport is the national disability sports organisation supporting people with cerebral palsy to be able to access and enjoy being physically active throughout their lives​.   

We collaborate with local, regional, and national partners to provide physical activity that is accessible and enjoyable for people with cerebral palsy – children, young people, and adults, all across the UK. We support everyone with cerebral palsy to have the opportunities, capability, and motivation to participate in a wide range of physical activities and which suit a variety of interests. ​

Please note:  This is a voluntary role with a time commitment of 12 days per year which includes Board and relevant Advisory Group meetings, along with follow-up preparation and for the Board and Executive. Board meetings are usually held online.  Reasonable out-of-pocket expenses are paid.  

NED For Finance 

The Role: 

As NED for Finance, you will be a vital member of the Board of CP Sport and the leadership governing the sport. Along with general fiduciary duties of an NED, you will be primarily responsible for providing advice, guidance, and reassurance on all aspects of CP Sport’s financial management, reporting, control systems, solvency, and investments. 

In the role, you’ll be tasked specifically with the following:   

  • Oversee, approve, and present budgets, accounts, and financial statements to the Board on an annual basis  
  • Work with the Board, Executive and independent accountant to present management accounts, in a timely and accurate manner at Board meetings  0
  • Oversee and develop policies for financial reserves, cost management and investment policies, where required.  
  • Guide and advise the Board on the financial controls and implications of strategic plans, and oversee the financial risk-management process  
  • Attend relevant sub-committee meetings where appropriate in line with their terms of reference, reporting back to the Board  

 

In addition, you’ll need the following: 

  • An accountancy qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA 
  • Proven interpersonal, communication, and people skills, an enquiring mind, and a positive attitude 
  • Understanding how to communicate priority information and make recommendations that can be easily and effectively interpreted and applied 

 

NED for Governance 

As NED for Governance, you will be a vital member of the Board of CP Sport and the leadership governing the sport. Along with the general fiduciary duties of a NED, you will be primarily responsible for providing advice, guidance, and reassurance on all aspects of CP Sport’s Governance including: – 

  • Organisational purpose 
  • Board effectiveness  
  • Integrity  
  • Leadership  
  • Safeguarding procedures including whistleblowing  
  • Equality, Diversity & Inclusion  
  • Decision Making & Risk Control  
  • Attend relevant sub-committee meetings where appropriate in line with their terms of reference, reporting back to the Board.   

 

For these voluntary positions the persons appointed should not hold any other positions in the governance structure of CP Sport, its subsidiaries, or partners.
